About Sarah
Sarah Hobson began her career as a personal trainer in 2003. She received her certification from AFAA and continued her education by studying levels 1-4 of Pilates Allegro Reformer. She also completed Mat Sciences I and II through AFAA, a course, which focuses on training the core through pilates and yoga. From 2003 until 2006, she taught several allegro reformer pilates classes and one group pilates and yoga class at Bally Total Fitness. She also worked with a personal training partner to start Es Team Fitness, a business in St. Louis, MO, which served in-home clients and local corporations. As a Ph.D. student, during the summers from 2006 until 2008, Sarah continued to train at the Pottruck Gym at the University of Pennyslvania. She has worked with clients of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. She has trained severely challenged clients, with very specific limitations and needs, she has educated and inspired new exercisers to make and sustain lifestyle changes, she has worked with athletes training for the Olympics, with marathon runners and triatheletes, and with pregnant women. Her most cherished successes have been with clients who converted for life to exercise, with clients with diabetes, whose weight loss meant they no longer needed insulin or medication and with clients who experienced relief from back injuries or pain. Sarah has found personal training to be rewarding and fulfilling. With every person she trains, she builds from the core out, seeking to teach body awareness and form, seeking client’s independent ability to train themselves, and seeking to inspire clients through positive encouragement and realistic goals for each next step of their training. In her training, Sarah builds from her background as a competitive springboard diver, a high school educator, and a diving and soccer coach. She is warm, personable, motivating, careful, thorough, and individualized for each person she trains. Sarah is currently ACSM/CPR certified.
